Ceramic Alchemy - Reconnecting Through Color: A Pottery Glaze Experiment Series
In "Reconnecting Through Color," I embark on an experimental journey into the world of pottery glaze, exploring the intricate properties of chemical compounds. Through this series, I dive deep into the science of glazes, examining how various materials interact under high temperatures to create stunning visual effects and textures.
Each session focuses on a different aspect of glaze formulation, from the foundational Chemical compounds. During these hands-on experiments, I mix, test glazes of varying elements, document the results, and report the effect of each matter in the experiments.
Through this creative exploration, I am able to cultivate a deeper understanding of both the art and science behind pottery. Inspired by the way that technology invents new pigment and methods of glazing, I hope to join the new generation of ceramic artists to blend tradition with innovation.

Analog Photography
My personal passion is dedicated to the timeless art of film photography, focusing on the beauty of everyday moments and the stories of the people within them. Through the distinctive qualities of analog techniques, the result aims to highlight the rich textures, soft colors, and unique imperfections that digital formats often overlook.
Viewers will encounter spontaneous interactions, candid expressions, and fleeting moments that define the human experience. By using various film formats and developing techniques, we will explore the nuances of light, shadow, and emotion, allowing each photograph to convey a narrative that resonates deeply with the viewer.
Analog Photography emphasizes slowing down and appreciating the present, encouraging photographers to engage with their surroundings and the individuals they encounter. Each captured moment will serve as a testament to the connections we share and the beauty found in the mundane.

Plein-Air Painting and Sketches
"Nature's Palette" is my plein-air painting and sketches series engaging in the practice of plein-air painting while deepening the understanding of materials and techniques. This series focuses on the relationship between the artist, the landscape, and the tools used to capture the beauty of the natural world.
Sketches take place in outdoor settings, drawing inspiration from the surroundings as I experiment with various painting mediums—such as oil, watercolor, and acrylic—while learning about the properties of each material. This helps me to explore how different surfaces, pigments, and tools interact with the environment, influencing the work and creative expression.

Reclaiming Spaces: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Made of imperishable stone or metal, and placed in public spaces, public monuments were meant to be a genuine testimonial of the people’s memory. Memory is suppressed, integrated, or romanticized for national memory which then eventually becomes history or truth. Monuments were “true” only insofar as they seemed to display the people’s hearts.
Anti-monumentalism, on the contrary, challenges convention of reception by inviting close, bodily encounter by visitors. I want to prompt the viewers to think about and question the heroic individualism and the stability of national narratives. The engravings on the monoliths mark the time of the point in history that was recorded as the supposed point that America was involved with military bases in Vietnam. This questions the moments in history as something linear.

Nature in Relief
Reduction printmaking was an experimental process of me navigating my own memory sites of displacement and migration from the North to the capital of Vietnam. Depicted and abstracted into geometric forms is my hometown in different seasons.
Sculpture and woodwork
My 3-D work delves into the dynamic relationship between form and function, exploring how design can enhance usability in everyday objects. Starting with the experimentation of carving the organic form of the potato, I moved on to working with wood, and manipulating the curvilinear waves of each layer. With the intention of practicality and essentially creating a toy piece for infants in mind, I ended up with a minimal but dynamic mobile inspired by the ocean.
